Morocco-Spain: Strategic Relations with ‘Promising’ Future – Spanish Research Center –
Moroccan-Spanish strategic relations, based on mutual trust and shared values, are set for a “promising” future, said, on Wednesday, the Spanish-Moroccan Research Center. “Rabat and Madrid enjoy strategic and mutually advantageous relations,” emphasized the Center’s chairman, Miguel Angel Puyol Garcia, in a statement to MAP, noting that “the visit to Morocco by president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, will further consolidate them in the service of the two friendly and neighboring countries”. “The two countries, working to consolidate a model partnership guided by common interests, are determined to move forward in their exemplary cooperation based on understanding, good neighborliness and mutual respect”, noted Puyol. Highlighting the “regular and ongoing dialogue at all levels” between the governments and officials of the two countries, the chairman of the Zaragoza-based Center added that Sanchez’s visit to Morocco “will give new impetus to the virtuous dynamic” that bilateral relations have been enjoying since the adoption of the Moroccan-Spanish Roadmap in April 2022, on the occasion of Sanchez’s visit to the Kingdom at the invitation of HM King Mohammed VI. This roadmap has unleashed energies in a number of areas of cooperation and boosted bilateral economic exchanges, consolidating Spain’s position as Morocco’s leading trading partner. In 2023, the total volume of Moroccan-Spanish trade reached 17.4 billion euros, up +7% compared with 2022. President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, arrived in Morocco on Wednesday as part of a friendly working visit to the Kingdom. On his arrival at Rabat-Salé airport, Sanchez, accompanied by Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, was greeted by Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.
