UN: FM Holds Talks with SG of CICA

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, on Monday held talks in New York with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Kairat Sarybay. These talks were an opportunity to discuss means to strengthen cooperation ties between Morocco and CICA, as the Kingdom intends to obtain an observer state status within this pan-Asian organization, Mr. Sarybay told the press, following this meeting held on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly. “We have discussed the concrete steps we can take together now and in the future” to consolidate bilateral cooperation, he added, stressing the contribution that the Kingdom is able to make to the CICA. He also deemed necessary for this Asian grouping to strengthen its cooperation ties with Africa, underlining in this regard the importance of taking advantage of the “important role that Morocco plays on the continent”. “Morocco is a very dynamic economy that is witnessing rapid growth”, noted Mr. Sarybay, while expressing confidence that along with the Kingdom “we can promote the establishment of strong bridges between the two sides”.
