Members of Both Houses of Parliament Highly Praise Contents of Royal Office Statement & Kingdom’s Diplomatic Efforts

Rabat – Members of both Houses of Parliament on Monday highly praised the contents of the Royal Office statement issued on October 30 following the UN Security Council meeting on the Moroccan Sahara issue, as well as the efforts made by Moroccan diplomacy to definitively settle this artificial conflict.

Speaking at a joint plenary session of both Houses, the participants stressed that the substance of the statement marks a decisive strategic shift from managing the conflict to radically transforming its parameters and rules, with a view to definitively settling the issue.

They considered that the non-renewal of Minurso’s mandate, 35 years after its establishment, constitutes a historic milestone marking the end of its presence on the ground. They also praised the Kingdom’s firm commitment to the ceasefire and its determination to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the peace and security of its citizens.

The parliamentarians also unanimously underscored the central role of the Far-Sighted Royal Vision in the radical transformation of the Moroccan Sahara issue, noting that Royal Diplomacy, characterized by sound vision and steadfast positions, the consolidation of achievements and the building of alliances guided by the principle of territorial integrity, has helped broaden the circle of recognition and garner growing international support for the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.

In this regard, they noted that the vote of 11 countries in favor of the latest draft resolution reflects growing international support for Morocco’s position.

This momentum crowns the process enshrined in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 of October 31, 2025, which coincided with the institution by His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Unity Day, they stressed, reaffirming that this process establishes the autonomy initiative as the exclusive and sole basis for settling the dispute, with the support of more than two-thirds of UN member states and major world powers.

The participants stressed the need to consolidate the Kingdom’s diplomatic gains and development achievements by continuing to strengthen national cohesion and the domestic front, while promoting spatial and social justice.

Furthermore, members of both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors called on Algeria to assume its full legal and humanitarian responsibilities regarding the tragic situation of people held in the Tindouf camps. In this regard, they recalled the Kingdom’s “hand extended” policy, aimed at turning the page on this dispute, ending the suffering of those held in the camps and facilitating their return to their homeland.

They also affirmed that Morocco’s national position continues to gain strength on the ground, driven by the comprehensive development momentum witnessed in the Southern Provinces, thanks to the New Development Model dedicated to these regions, which His Majesty King Mohammed VI launched in 2015.

In this context, they recalled major structuring projects, including the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway, the Dakhla Atlantic Port, the Atlantic African Gas Pipeline project, as well as the Royal Initiative to facilitate the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.

Against the backdrop of this unwavering national consensus on the Moroccan identity of the Sahara, the various parliamentary components expressed their deep appreciation, pride and admiration for the members of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, National Security, the Auxiliary Forces, Civil Protection and Territorial Administration. They praised their tireless dedication to defending the territorial integrity of the homeland and safeguarding its security and stability, under the Wise Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him.
