Morocco, EU Continue to Strengthen their Partnership – Spanish Magazine –

Morocco continues its efforts to ”strengthen its position as the European Union’s main ally on the African continent”, underlines Monday the Spanish magazine ”Atalayar”. Rabat has succeeded in strengthening its ties with the supranational organization, thanks to an agreement on five reform projects in the Kingdom worth 5.5 billion dirhams (nearly 500 million euros),” writes the publication specializing in Maghreb affairs. The visit last week of the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, in Morocco was an opportunity to “deepen cooperation with the Kingdom,” notes the author of the article, adding that this trip has allowed to launch projects under the “Euro-Moroccan Partnership for Shared Prosperity”. “Morocco is and will remain a key partner for the European Union,” said Varhelyi, expressing the pride of the EU to implement a series of projects ranging from social protection issues to ecological transition, through access to finance and youth employment, according to “Atalayar”. During his working visit to Rabat, the second of its kind in less than a year, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement, recalled in particular “the extreme importance” of the Morocco-EU partnership, and the role of the Kingdom as a pillar of stability in the region. The two parties signed, on this occasion, five cooperation programs worth a total of nearly 500 million euros – to support the major reform projects in Morocco.
