FM’s Visit to Rome Reaffirms Both Countries’ Determination to Strengthen Relations – Italian Media
The visit of Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, to Rome on Wednesday, at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, reaffirms the determination of the two countries to further strengthen their solid relations in various fields, writes Italian news website Comunicati Stampa 24. Bourita’s first visit to Italy after the appointment of Antonio Tajani as Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic in October 2022, aims to further promote economic and political relations between Rome and Rabat and consolidate peace in the Mediterranean region, according to the same source. The meeting between the two ministers was the occasion to sign an action plan for the implementation of the multidimensional strategic partnership to be concluded in 2019, reports the portal, noting that this action plan, which defines Italian-Moroccan relations in the coming years, represents a concrete implementation of the Morocco-Italy strategic partnership, a “partnership aimed at continuous dialogue and concrete, mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.” He added that the forthcoming visit of the head of the Italian diplomatic service to Morocco is intended to examine concrete actions to be carried out around the four priorities defined in the action plan, noting that the two countries have expressed their willingness to act together to maintain and consolidate the level of their relations. “Rabat and Rome also undertook to give new impetus to political dialogue in all its dimensions in order to meet the requirements of regional and international stability and peace,” the publication adds. On the security front, Morocco and Italy also praised “the recognized professionalism of the two countries’ services and their efforts in the field of international security,” the same source reported, noting that both parties appreciated the role played by Rome and Rabat in the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration and transnational crime. With regard to the national question, the portal states that Italy welcomed the serious and credible efforts made by Morocco, as reflected in the Security Council Resolution 2654 of October 27, 2022.
