Vice-chairman of Libyan High Council of State Commends Kingdom’s Ongoing Efforts to Achieve Reconciliation in Libya
vice-chairman of the Libyan High Council of State, Massoud Obeid, hailed, on Friday in Rabat, Morocco’s ongoing efforts to achieve national reconciliation between the Libyan brothers. The Skhirat Agreement was a decisive turning point in the process to end the Libyan conflict, noted Obeid during his talks with speaker of the House of Advisors, Enaam Mayara, expressing his willingness to strengthen cooperation between the Libyan High Council of State and the upper house, in order to benefit from the latter’s experience in various fields, notably training. For his part, Mayara reaffirmed the Kingdom’s permanent readiness to support all the efforts made within the framework of Libyan national reconciliation, in accordance with the High Guidelines of HM King Mohammed VI, with a view to reaching a national consensus between the Libyan brothers and overcoming all the difficulties encountered during the transition period, said a statement by the House of Advisors. In this regard, he said that Morocco would spare no effort to support the Libyans in this phase, with the aim of rebuilding a nation-state with strong institutions. The meeting was also an opportunity to review all the challenges facing the region, in the light of growing security risks and the spread of cross-border armed groups, which require joint efforts to preserve the unity of states and their territorial integrity, the same source concluded.
