IPU Assembly: Moroccan Delegation Holds Talks with President of Gabon’s Transitional National Assembly

The Moroccan delegation participating in the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), held a meeting last Wednesday with President of the Transitional National Assembly of the Republic of Gabon, Jean-François Ndongou.    On this occasion, the Gabonese official presented a detailed overview of the political situation in his country, ensuring that transitional authorities are deploying all means to guarantee a rapid return to constitutional order, through the creation of all transitional institutions, the House of Representatives said in a press release.    After the formation of the transitional government and the transitional Constitutional Court, the National Assembly and the Senate, bringing together the strong forces of the nation, were formed, Ndongou pointed out, noting that the transitional Prime Minister asked all citizens to make written contributions in preparation for holding a comprehensive national congress as soon as possible.    For his part, first vice-speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohammed Sabbari, who led the Moroccan delegation to the 147th General Assembly of IPU (October 23-27 in Luanda), welcomed the excellent historical relations between Morocco and Gabon, emphasizing Morocco’s constant position regarding respect for the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries.    He also praised the wisdom of Gabon’s active forces in managing the transition phase, ensuring that the Kingdom is confident that this friendly country will emerge from this temporary situation as quickly as possible.    In this regard, Sabbari stressed the importance of further strengthening relations of cooperation and friendship in all sectors between the two legislative institutions, both at the bilateral level through the activation of the group of parliamentary friendship and the exchange of visits, as well as at the level of multilateral relations, by continuing mutual support and unifying positions in international parliamentary forums like the IPU.
