Morocco, UK Believe Two-State Solution Needed to Promote Security in Middle East – British Minister of State –

The United Kingdom and Morocco believe that a two-State solution is the path to promote peace and security in the Middle East, British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, said Wednesday in Rabat. The United Kingdom and Morocco believe that the ultimate goal shall be the two-State solution: an Israeli State living side by side with a Palestinian State in peace and security, Lord Tariq Ahmad told reporters following talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. He underlined that Rabat and London “will work together towards this end”, with their key partners, notably the United States and Gulf countries, while recognizing that “it is a challenging time, but one should never give up on hope”. In this regard, the British minister spoke of “the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza”, stressing that Morocco and the United Kingdom will endeavor to settle this situation. He also noted that ties between the United Kingdom and Morocco “are stronger than ever”, adding that they “are based not only on mutual trust”, but also on “the strength that each country brings”. The minister underlined that the two countries are working on several issues of common interest.
