Azerbaijan Reaffirms Its “Permanent and Unwavering” Support for Morocco’s Territorial Integrity
Azerbaijan has once again reaffirmed its “permanent and unwavering” support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara. This position was expressed at the 2nd session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, held in Rabat on Monday, and co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov. In the minutes of the meeting, the Azerbaijani side expressed its commitment to the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its support for the efforts of the United Nations and the Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to achieve a lasting and equitable political solution to the Sahara question, based on the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, notably the latest Resolution 2703, the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, as well as the serious and credible efforts deployed by Morocco to definitively resolve this artificial conflict. According to the document, relations between Morocco and Azerbaijan have reached a level of excellence, characterized by solidarity, trust, mutual respect and reciprocal support on issues of vital interest to the two friendly countries. According to the same source, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Ilham Aliyev are particularly interested in developing and diversifying these relations, to the benefit of the prosperity and well-being of both the Moroccan and Azerbaijani peoples.
