Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held, here Tuesday, talks with his Bahraini peer, Abdellatif Bin Rachid Al-Zayani, on the eve of the 6th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum, scheduled for Wednesday. During this meeting, both ministers reviewed the fruitful cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields and the ways to further promote them. They also expressed their pride in the level of relations of close cooperation and active solidarity between the two Kingdoms, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and His brother, His Majesty King Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa. This meeting was an opportunity for Bourita to reiterate Morocco’s continued position, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain and standing by it in the face of any interference in its internal affairs and any attempt to undermine its security, stability and national unity. For his part, Al-Zayani reiterated Bahrain’s position in favor of the Moroccan Sahara, which was reinforced by the opening, on December 14, 2020, of a Consulate General in Laayoune, upon the decision of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa. Both ministers also welcomed the holding of the first meeting of the Moroccan-Bahraini joint consular commission on December 6 in Rabat. The two sides also reviewed the situation in the Middle East and the large-scale acts of violence and destruction in the Gaza Strip, calling upon the international community and influential countries to make further efforts to achieve an immediate, comprehensive and permanent ceasefire and to facilitate the delivery of aid in an urgent, sufficient, safe and unhindered manner.
