By supporting Morocco’s candidacy to chair the UN Human Rights Council for 2024, the international community expresses its “admiration” for the “unshakeable choice” of the Kingdom, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in favor of the preservation and promotion of human rights, the Spanish Association for International Cooperation said. “This historic election reflects the admiration of the international community for the continuous efforts led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to consolidate respect for human rights,” Inmaculada Ocaña, president of the Seville-based NGO, told MAP. The president of the Association for International Cooperation underlined that “this election constitutes a well-deserved recognition by the international community of the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in terms of the protection and promotion of human rights”. “This vision translates into a continuous commitment to reforms aimed at strengthening democracy, promoting gender equality, guaranteeing social and territorial justice and ensuring the effectiveness of human rights,” Ocaña said, commending “Morocco’s commitment to inclusive participation and youth empowerment, key elements for sustainable progress.” “Morocco’s election (…) reaffirms the confidence and credibility enjoyed by Morocco’s foreign action in Africa and on the international stage,” she stressed.
