Morocco, KSA Foster Judicial Cooperation

An executive program for judicial cooperation between Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was signed, Thursday in Tangier, on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Digital Transformation of the Judicial System. Signed by Morocco’s Justice Minister, Abdellatif Ouahbi, and his Saudi peer, Walid bin Mohammed Al-Samaani, this program is part of efforts to foster cooperation between the two countries in the legal field and judicial administration, in accordance with the Riyadh Arab Agreement for Judicial Cooperation. Under this agreement, the two parties will collaborate and coordinate their actions in the areas of judicial organization and court management. They will also coordinate their efforts to actively participate in international conferences in this field, while promoting the exchange of models of judicial decisions, publications, registers and everything relating to the judicial administration. This agreement also aims to strengthen the exchange of expertise and information in the areas of legislation and judicial administration and to set up a joint working team to ensure the follow-up of the issues and activities resulting of this collaboration. Organized by the Ministry of Justice, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the meeting reflects Morocco’s commitment to justice and its alignment with the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Under the theme “the digital transformation of the judicial system: a vector for efficient and inclusive justice”, the two-day event aims to highlight the contribution of the digital transformation of the justice system to the achievement of the SDGs, in particular those related to justice, equality, access to justice and effective institutions.
