Morocco, Gateway to Africa for Andean Countries – Speaker of Andean Parliament –

Morocco’s privileged geographical location allows it to be a gateway to Africa for Andean countries and all Latin American countries, Speaker of the Andean Parliament, Cristina Reyes Hidalgo, said Wednesday in Rabat.    During her talks with Speaker of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, Reyes Hidalgo stressed that her role within the Andean Parliament and her numerous visits to Morocco allowed her to appreciate the great respect enjoyed by this thousand-year-old country in its regional and continental environment, expressing her great admiration for the tangible development in the Kingdom in various areas, the Upper House noted in a press release.    Regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, Hidalgo reiterated the position of the Andean Parliament in favor of the Moroccan national cause and the Moroccan autonomy initiative in its southern provinces, as a serious and unique base to settle this long-standing conflict, the same source added.    Congratulating Cristina Reyes Hidalgo on her election as new Speaker of the Andean Parliament, Mayara expressed his satisfaction with the privileged relations between Moroccan and Andean parliaments, welcoming the remarkable process of development of these relationships, according to a clear vision and a roadmap with precise objectives and mechanisms.    In this regard, Mayara noted that the accession of the Kingdom of Morocco to this important regional organization reflects a strategic choice and a firm conviction of the importance of South-South cooperation, within the framework of the far-sighted vision of HM King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the Moroccan Parliament’s willingness to continue to work together on issues of common interest.
