Morocco, Mauritania to Promote Bilateral Cooperation in Infrastructure

Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, held, here Tuesday, talks with Mauritanian Minister of Equipment and Transport, Mohamed Aly Ould Sidi Mohamed, on promoting bilateral cooperation in infrastructure.    This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the brotherly relations between the two countries and the importance to further consolidate them, through the exchange of technical expertise and the expansion of the partnership between the Moroccan Public Laboratory for Tests and Studies (LPEE) and the Mauritanian National Laboratory for Public Works (LNTP).    In this regard, Baraka said these talks are meant to further strengthen friendly relations and boost economic cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that this meeting was an opportunity to launch a roadmap for strengthening bilateral cooperation in infrastructure and ports.    During these talks, which are also part of preparations for the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint High Commission, both parties examined the means to launch structuring projects which will have a positive impact in Mauritania, in particular the transport network between Nouakchott and Nouadhibou, the minister added.    For his part, Ould Sidi Mohamed said this visit aims to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries and to exchange experiences in various areas relating to infrastructure.    The Mauritanian minister noted that this meeting focused on carrying out a technical study relating to the Nouakchott-Nouadhibou road, laying the foundations of a strong partnership between the two countries in public works, as well as participating in the construction of a number of engineering structures in Nouakchott to streamline traffic in the Mauritanian capital.
