Sánchez’s Visit Strengthens Vibrant Ties with Morocco – Academic

Spanish Government President Pedro Sánchez’s working visit to Morocco underscores the Kingdom’s significance in Spain’s foreign policy, emphasized Mohammed El Moudden, a specialist in Moroccan-Spanish relations. This visit reaffirms Morocco’s priority in Spain’s foreign policy agenda, particularly during Sánchez’s new term in leading the Spanish executive, El Moudden told MAP. This presents an opportunity to sustain the momentum initiated by Sánchez in bilateral relations, especially through his support for the autonomy plan in the Moroccan Sahara. The specialist recalled the pivotal meeting between HM King Mohammed VI and the Spanish prime minister in April 2022 in Rabat, which resulted in the establishment of a roadmap aimed at invigorating relations between the two countries. Moreover, El Moudden emphasized the role of this visit in bolstering bilateral ties, considering Morocco’s significance in Spain’s domestic policy and its involvement in various vital issues. On Wednesday, the President of the Spanish Government conducted a working visit to Morocco, highlighted by the Audience granted to him by HM King Mohammed VI. This visit marks the continuation of the new phase in bilateral relations, initiated by the aforementioned meeting between HM the King and the President of the Spanish Government in April 2022, which led to the adoption of a Joint Declaration between the two countries.
