Chinese Investment Growth in Morocco Reflects Robust Bilateral Relations, Says Chinese Ambassador

The continued rise of Chinese investments in Morocco reflects the excellence of cooperation relations and political understanding between the two countries, said the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Rabat, Li Chang Lin, on Tuesday in Casablanca. Addressing the 7th International Conference themed “On both ends of the Silk Road,” jointly organized by Hassan II University in Casablanca and the Shanghai University of International Studies, Chang Lin highlighted the significance of HM King Mohammed VI’s 2016 visit to China. He emphasized that this visit elevated cooperation to a new level, resulting in increased economic collaboration and a growing influx of Chinese investment into sectors prioritized by Morocco. In this respect, he called for inspiration to be drawn from the spirit of the ancient Silk Road in adopting new ideas for cooperation, particularly in the political, cultural and economic fields, highlighting the importance of the academic dynamic in strengthening these ties. Touching upon various international initiatives led by China, including the “Belt and Road” initiative, the ambassador stressed the necessity of global cooperation and collective action to address contemporary challenges and crises. The forum, themed “Morocco and China: Innovation and value creation for a strategic partnership,” held at the Mohammed Sekkat university library, featured two sessions dedicated to presenting and analyzing works by Moroccan and Chinese experts and academics, focusing on the extensive exchanges between the two countries.
