Morocco Plays ‘Key Role’ in West Africa’s Stability, Says Canaries President

Morocco plays “a key role” in strengthening West Africa’s stability and managing its crises, said the president of the regional government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, on Monday. Speaking at a press conference, Clavijo highlighted Morocco’s strategic importance to the European Union and the United States, especially acknowledging the Kingdom’s fundamental role in the stability of West Africa. Asked about the geopolitical impact of Donald Trump’s return to the White House on the region, the Canarian official reaffirmed that Morocco is a “top-tier partner” for the European Union and a “priority partner” for the United States in the region. During a recent visit to Morocco, Clavijo reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening cooperative ties with Morocco, noting that clarity, sincerity, and loyalty are the foundations of their bilateral collaboration.
