Morocco’s Upper House First Vice-Speaker Holds Talks with Mexican Senator

Morocco’s First Vice-Speaker of the House of Councillors, Abdelkader Salama, held talks, in Rabat on Friday, with Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, member of the Mexican Senate and President of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), who is leading a large delegation on a friendly working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.  At the outset of the meeting, Salama praised the depth of the historical ties between Morocco and Mexico, stressing the qualitative evolution of bilateral ties, mainly after HM King Mohammed VI’s historic visit to the country in 2004, the House of Councillors said in a press release. Reviewing the main stages of cooperation between the two countries, Salama highlighted the Kingdom’s promising strategic sectors, which offer real potential for strengthening cooperation and deepening the bilateral partnership, particularly in the automotive and aerospace industries, agriculture and migration. Salama also gave an overview of the House of Councillors and its constitutional roles, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and the House’s willingness to support all initiatives aimed at strengthening coordination and partnership with the Mexican Senate bilaterally and multilaterally. For his part, Cárdenas expressed his joy and pride at visiting the Kingdom, considering this meeting to be an ideal opportunity to deepen exchanges and promote economic and trade cooperation between Morocco and Mexico, given their location, status and strategic weight in their regions.  He also underlined the willingness and readiness of the Mexican PRI to support the process of bilateral ties in various fields. Cárdenas also praised Morocco’s political, economic and human progress, expressing his admiration for His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s Vision for development. In this respect, he reiterated his country’s willingness to pursue the exchange of expertise and experience with the Kingdom in key areas of common interest.
