United Nations (New York) – The State of Qatar reaffirmed before the UN Committee of 24 (C-24) its support for the Autonomy plan presented by Morocco to achieve a definitive settlement to the regional dispute over the Sahara.

This is a “constructive” initiative that constitutes the basis for any realistic solution to the question of the Moroccan Sahara, stressed the Qatari representative during the regular meeting of the C-24, held until Friday in New York. The diplomat also expressed his country’s support for the efforts exerted by the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, aimed at facilitating the achievement of a lasting and compromise political solution within the framework of the political process conducted under the auspices of the United Nations, in accordance with Security Council resolutions, including 2756, and while respecting Morocco’s sovereignty.
