HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, Chairs in Rabat Hassan Mosque Religious Ceremony to Commemorate Aid Al-Mawlid Annabawi Asharif

Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid and HH Prince Moulay Ahmed, chaired, on Thursday, 11 Rabii-I 1447 of the Hegira, corresponding to September 4, 2025, at the Hassan Mosque in Rabat, a religious ceremony in commemoration of Aid Al-Mawlid Annabawi Asharif.

This religious evening was marked by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and panegyrics of Prophet Sidna Mohammed, may Peace and Prayer be upon him. On this occasion, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq gave an address before His Majesty the King on the activities of the Supreme Council of Ulema and local Ulema Councils, before handing over to the Sovereign the report relating to said activities. In his address, the minister said that the celebration of Aid Al Mawlid Annabawi Asharif coincides with the commemoration of the 15th century anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Sidna Mohammed (PBUH), noting that the Sovereign has instructed the Supreme Council of Ulema to celebrate this year by emphasizing both the life (Sira Annabawiya) and the Message of the Prophet. In this regard, he affirmed that the religious guidance provided in the Kingdom, at the initiative of the Ulema, is a project aiming to enshrine lofty universal values. He added that the Ulema believe that fulfilling the conditions of Tabligh (propagation), under the enlightened leadership of the Commander of the Faithful, is an ideal opportunity to put forward a global model of understanding inspired by the way of the Prophet. In this context, Toufiq recalled an unprecedented high-level meeting, held earlier this year by the Supreme Council of Ulema with a host of major development actors, to address, through their research, the question of the extent to which development needs the guidance provided by the Quran. This meeting, he continued, was an opportunity to engage in dialogue on a central issue to all : leading a happy life according to Divine Law. Then, HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, handed the Mohammed VI Award of thought and Islamic Studies (Award of Merit and Honor) to Abbas Rhila from Marrakech. This award is given annually in order to reward outstanding scientific figures and to encourage them to carry out research in Islamic studies, in accordance with the teachings of the noble Shariah, which advocates the search for knowledge and urges to make good use of it. HM the King was then greeted by Hassan Bakkour, from Syria, who received from the hands of the Sovereign the Mohammed VI International Award of memorization, declamation and exegesis of the Holy Quran. The Sovereign also presented the Mohammed VI international Award of Quran psalmody with memorization of five Hizbs to Ayoub Alla from Salé. HM the King, Commander of the Faithful, also presented the Mohammed VI Award in Moroccan Calligraphic art and the Mohammed VI Award in Moroccan Calligraphic art (Excellence Award) to Jaouad Ettaybi and El Mostapha Ajdi from Salé. Afterwards, the Sovereign handed the Mohammed VI Award of Moroccan decorative art on paper (Honorary Award) to Abdelilah Laabiss (Meknes) and the Mohammed VI Award of the Moroccan decorative art on paper (Excellence Award) to Badr Dhrif (Fez). HM the King also awarded the Mohammed VI Award of Arabic graphic design [Al Horoufia] (Honorary Award) to Mohamed El Bandouri (Marrakech), and the Mohammed VI Prize for Arabic graphic design [Al Horoufia] (Excellence Award) to Mohamed Mazouz (Salé). On this occasion, HM the King was greeted by the jury of the Mohammed VI Award of thought and Islamic studies: professors Mohamed Yssef, Mostapha Benhamza, Idriss Khalifa, Ahmed Chaouki Binebine, Ahmed Chahlane, Abdelmajid Sghir, Driss Ben Daouia, Said Chabar, Khadija Abou Zaid as well as Yacine Houhoud (Reporter). The religious ceremony was attended by the Head of government, the Speakers of the two Houses of parliament, Advisors to HM the King, members of government, presidents of constitutional bodies, senior officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, members of the Islamic diplomatic corps accredited to Rabat, as well as by several Ulema and other civil and military dignitaries. The celebration of this religious evening by HM King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, falls in line with the tradition observed by His Illustrious Ancestors who have constantly taken care to commemorate the anniversary of the coming to the World of the Messenger of Mercy, the Prophet Sidna Mohammed, may Peace and Prayer be upon him. An anniversary that marks the blossoming of the lights of guidance for Humanity, thanks to the message carried by the Seal of the Prophets, to spread the lofty virtues and values of justice and recommend good deeds so that all humans live in peace and understanding.
