Rabat – Upon High Instructions from His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity launched the “Extreme Cold” operation, aimed at providing emergency humanitarian aid to populations affected by the cold spell currently hitting several provinces of the Kingdom.

This nationwide operation provides for the deployment of significant logistical and human resources, in close coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, to meet the most vulnerable’s immediate needs, says the Foundation in a press release. In total, this concerns 28 provinces affected by low temperatures and heavy rain and snowfall, says the same source, noting that the operation is set to benefit 73,000 households, which will receive essential foodstuff aid as well as blankets. A logistical setup will eventually be deployed in the said provinces, with teams from the Foundation intervening on the ground in order to reach the remote villages and high-altitude mountainous zones. These teams include executives, doctors, and social assistants from the Directorate General of Social Services (DGSS) under the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), with the support of local authorities, the FAR, and the Royal Gendarmerie.
