Gov’t Head Represents HM the King at Inauguration Ceremony for Re-elected São Tomé & Príncipe President

São Tomé – Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI on Thursday in São Tomé at the inauguration ceremony for President of São Tomé and Príncipe Carlos Vila Nova, who was re-elected to a second term following elections held on July 19.

During the ceremony, held at the National Assembly headquarters and attended by heads of State and government, Vila Nova was sworn in as President of the Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe for a new five-year term.

Akhannouch was accompanied at the ceremony by Morocco’s ambassador to Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe Abdellah Sbihi.

His Majesty the King had previously sent a message of congratulations to Vila Nova on the occasion of his reelection, in which the Sovereign reaffirmed His determination to continue working with the São Toméan President towards stronger distinguished ties between the two countries, rooted in brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual esteem, and driven by a shared commitment to fostering constructive bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples.

Carlos Vila Nova was re-elected in the first round of the presidential election with 55.88% of the vote.
