Kingdom’s Ombudsman Reelected to Executive Board of OIC’s Ombudsmen Association
Kingdom Ombudsman Mohamed Benalilou was reelected, on Friday in Istanbul, as a member of the executive board and the Board of Directors of the Association of Ombudsmen and Mediators of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Benalilou’s reelection took place during the third meeting of the OIC General Assembly held on the 5th and 6th of the current month in Istanbul, alongside Ombudsmen from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye, as stated by the Kingdom’s Ombudsman in a press release. This assembly provided an opportunity to discuss various activity reports from the previous term and ways to ensure the Association’s international prominence in the field of human rights, according to the same source. Regarding the new roles of Ombudsman institutions and the challenges facing the Islamic world, future projects of the OIC were at the heart of the interactive dialogue, during which experiences of different bodies contributing to transparency and the strengthening of public service governance in support of administration operations and human rights defense were presented. The proceedings of this meeting were attended by over 50 participants, including mediators, Ombudsmen, and representatives from governance and human rights institutions, representing 20 different organizations.
