Govt. Head, Majority & Opposition Parties Discuss Direct Social Assistance Measures
Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch held, here Tuesday, two meetings with the majority parties and representatives of opposition parties, on the measures related to the implementation of the direct social assistance program. During the first meeting, Akhannouch held talks with representatives of the majority parties, in the presence of the parties of the Constitutional Union and the Democratic and Social Movement which support the government, while the second meeting was held with the representatives of opposition parties. The Head of Government examined with representatives of political parties the various steps and measures to be taken in order to guarantee the optimal implementation of this program, which will come into force before the end of the year. As part of the Royal Vision relating to the generalization of social protection that constitutes one of the pillars of the social State, the direct social assistance program represents the second stage of the project of generalization of social protection, after the successful generalization of compulsory health insurance (AMO), in 2022. This program aims to improve the living conditions of poor and vulnerable children and families, fight poverty and precariousness, promote social and human development indicators and achieve socio-spatial justice by broadening the scope of aid to include broad categories of citizens. During these two meetings, representatives of political parties welcomed the participatory approach based on dialogue, consultation and listening, adopted by the government ahead of the launch of this large-scale national project. The meetings were attended by Interior Minister, Abdelouafi Laftit, and Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and finance, in charge of the Budget, Faouzi Lekjaa.
