Thailand’s Former Ambassador to Morocco Receives Royal Decoration
The former ambassador of Thailand in Rabat, Darm Boontham, received, Tuesday in Bangkok, the “Wissam Alaouite of the Order of Commander”, in recognition of his action to strengthen relations between Thailand and Morocco. In a statement, the Moroccan embassy in Bangkok said Wednesday that “His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has kindly awarded the +Wissam Alaouite of the Order of Commander+ to Darm Boontham, former ambassador of Thailand in Rabat, in recognition of his action to strengthen relations between the two countries”. During a ceremony held at the Residence of Morocco in Bangkok in honor of the Thai diplomat, the ambassador of HM the King in Thailand, Abdelilah El Housni handed to Boontham the “Wissam Alaouite of the Order of Commander”. This ceremony, organized in compliance with health measures, was enhanced by the presence of the Privy Councillor of the King of Thailand, H.E. Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, and senior officials of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the Secretary General Thani Thongphakdi, said the statement. Speaking on this occasion, El Housni noted that this Royal distinction is a high recognition of the efforts of the Thai diplomat and his sustained action to strengthen the excellent relations between the two kingdoms in the political, economic, scientific and cultural fields. Reiterating his congratulations to the Thai diplomat, El Housni called for the consolidation of relations between the two kingdoms in all areas, exploring new opportunities and further strengthening these distinguished ties in the spirit of an enterprising and promising South-South cooperation. In this sense, he stressed that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the embassies of both countries have celebrated last year, respectively in Rabat and Bangkok, the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. For his part, Boontham said he was honored by this prestigious Royal distinction, which has great significance and reflects the exemplary and excellent relations between the two Royal Families and between the two countries at all levels, while expressing his thanks and deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
