The Mauritanian minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed, highlighted, Tuesday in Rabat, the “distinguished and constantly evolving” relations linking Morocco and Mauritania. “Bilateral relations are distinguished and constantly evolving, and there is a qualitative cooperation in various fields” between the two countries, stressed Ould Cheikh Ahmed at a press conference after his talks with minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita. He stressed that his visit to Morocco is part of the political consultations, exchanges and communication between Morocco and Mauritania, two countries bound by close historical relations, stressing the concern of the Heads of State of the two countries, HM King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazaouni, to consolidate and strengthen them further. The minister recalled, in this context, that Morocco is home to a large Mauritanian diaspora of more than 10,000 nationals and that the number of Mauritanian students in Morocco is steadily increasing to reach over 3,000 currently. Ould Cheikh Ahmed also said that preparations are underway for the holding of the 8th High Joint Moroccan-Mauritanian Commission, stressing that all these indicators reflect the quality and level of bilateral relations.
