Gambian FM Reaffirms Firm Support for Sahara’s Moroccanness
The Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mamadou Tangara, reaffirmed, on Tuesday in Rabat, his country’s firm support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara. “This is my first official visit to Morocco after the formation of the new government in Gambia; a fact that amply demonstrates the excellence of relations between our two countries,” said Taranga during a press briefing after his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans A abroad, Nasser Bourita. “I take this opportunity to reaffirm, without any ambiguity, the support of my country to the Moroccan Sahara,” reiterating his country’s support to the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco. In this context, he recalled that the Gambia was the first country to open a consulate in the city of Dakhla, “an area that constitutes an integral part of Moroccan territory.”
