Council of Arab League Welcomes Morocco’s Initiative to Combat Military Recruitment of Children in Armed Conflicts

The Council of the Arab League has welcomed the Kingdom of Morocco’s initiative to develop a draft annex of the “Comprehensive Plan for Combating the Recruitment of Children in Armed and Terrorist Conflicts”. The Arab League said at the closing of the 158th session of its Council at the level of foreign ministers held Tuesday in Cairo, that this project, which focuses on the legal, human and human rights dimensions of the fight against the recruitment of children in armed conflict, will be entrusted to the specialized bodies of the League for its implementation soon. Moreover, the Council called, in a resolution concerning terrorism, to continue to take advantage of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema and the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams, Mourchidines and Mourchidates. The Council also welcomed the establishment in Morocco of the UNOCT Programme Office for Counter-Terrorism and Training in Africa , as well as the co-chairmanship of the Kingdom with Canada, of the Global Counterterrorism Forum.
