Migration: 6th Ministerial Conference of “Rabat Process”, on December 13-14 in Cadiz

The 6th Ministerial Conference of the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development, “Rabat Process”, will be held on December 13 and 14 in Cadiz, Spain. This high-level event, which will bring together ministers responsible for migration and development from partner countries participating in the Rabat Process, as well as high-level representatives of partner countries and organizations, aims to discuss and adopt the Political Declaration and Action Plan of Cadiz, according to a framework document issued by the Spanish government. This multi-year cooperation program sets strategic goals that will guide the activities of the Rabat Process and its partners for the period 2023-2027. In this context, participants will examine the main challenges facing the Rabat Process Dialogue and identify common solutions. They will also discuss perspectives for addressing the new drivers of migration in the Rabat Process region. The Cadiz Action Plan will build on the previous multi-year strategic framework of the Rabat Process, the Marrakech Action Plan, adopted at the previous Ministerial Conference in 2018, and the Joint Valletta Action Plan (JVAP), which was adopted by Rabat Process and Khartoum Process partners in 2018. It will take into account how the international context has evolved since 2018 and address new challenges that have emerged since then, and will propose concrete actions to be implemented in each of its five thematic areas.
