Morocco, Malawi Stress Importance of Parliamentary Cooperation to Address Common Challenges
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi, Catherine Gotani Hara, stressed on Monday in Rabat the importance of parliamentary cooperation to address common challenges. During their talks at the headquarters of Morocco’s Lower House, as part of an official visit of Gotani Hara, leading a large parliamentary delegation, the two parties expressed their strong desire to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative institutions and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on projects and areas of priority cooperation, the House of Representatives said in a statement. On this occasion, Talbi El Alami welcomed the visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi and the accompanying delegation, welcoming the position of Malawi in favor of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over all its territory, as well as the decision to open a consulate of the Republic of Malawi in Laayoune, according to the same source. The Speaker of the House of Representatives has also reviewed the experience of the Kingdom in the agricultural field, especially in mitigating the impact of climate change, the rationalization of water use and the transition to green and renewable energy, recalling the strategic objectives set by the Kingdom in these areas under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI. For her part, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Malawi welcomed the support provided by the Kingdom of Morocco to her country in the field of agricultural fertilizers, stressing their great importance and their positive impact on Malawian farmers. She said that this official visit aims to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and to learn about the progress made by the Kingdom in several areas, those in particular of agriculture, energy, environment, education, health and youth.
