Várhelyi’s Visit Confirms Morocco’s Position as Credible, Stable Partner of Europe – French Expert

European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi’s visit to Morocco confirms the Kingdom’s place as a credible and stable partner of Europe, according to French geopolitical expert Jérôme Besnard. This visit also shows that relations between Morocco and the European Union (EU) are not affected by the attitudes of some hostile voices, Besnard told MAP. “For the EU, Morocco remains a very credible partner, especially in the fight against the threats of terrorist networks and organized crime.” The European Commissioner was right to recall that Morocco is a pillar of stability in the region, he stressed, while welcoming the cooperation programs agreed to support the Moroccan reform plan, with social, economic, agricultural, water and energy components. Morocco and the European Union signed Thursday in Rabat, five cooperation programs worth a total of nearly 500 million euros to support the Kingdom’s major reform projects. Signed by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the European Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, the 5 cooperation programs concern social protection, green transition, public administration reform, migration management and financial inclusion.
