Under HM the King’s Leadership, Morocco Stands out as ‘Reliable Strategic’ Partner of EU – Italian Senator –
Under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco has stood out as a “regional hub of stability and a reliable strategic partner of the European Union (EU),” said chairman of the European Policies Committee of the Italian Senate, Giulio Terzi. During a meeting Monday with the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Rome, Youssef Balla, the Italian senator emphasized the EU-Morocco partnership that “deserves to be strengthened and enriched further,” according to a statement by the office of the Italian senator. The strengthened EU-Morocco partnership can only help to confirm the important results achieved through Morocco’s national and European strategy to strengthen multidimensional cooperation and meet the challenges of the Euro-Mediterranean area, including the fight against climate change as well as trafficking in human beings and the prevention and fight against terrorism, which has led Morocco to considerable results in this area, the statement said. The chairman of the European Policies Committee of the Italian Senate recalled the advanced status enjoyed by Morocco in its relations with the EU, mentioning the possibility of establishing a specific status to security that could fall within this framework, the same source said. This agreement will allow to respond adequately to what the Euro-Atlantic community and several African countries consider as systemic challenges, namely radicalism, terrorism and separatism, fueled by external influences that represent a serious threat to development in the Mediterranean area and particularly in the Maghreb, noted the statement. During the meeting, the two sides also explored the prospects of parliamentary diplomacy to further strengthen the growth of the already excellent relations between Rome and Rabat as they discussed the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
