49th Arab Labor Conference: Minister Sekkouri Holds Series of Talks
The Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, held a series of bilateral talks with several ministers on the sidelines of his participation, in Cairo, in the 49th Arab Labor Conference. Sekkouri discussed, with Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Director General Fayez Ali Al-Mutairi, means to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom and the organization. He also held talks with the Palestinian Minister of Labor, Nasri Abu Jaish, on labor mobility, the Moroccan experience in social protection and bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest. During the meeting, the Palestinian minister praised the role played by HM King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in supporting the Palestinian cause. Moreover, Sekkouri reviewed, during his talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Hassan Mohamed Shehata, the Moroccan experience in the field of social dialogue and the program entitled “For a Comprehensive Approach to the Governance of Migration and Labor Mobility in North Africa,” which is an international cooperation program launched in 2019 and involving the International Labor Organization, the International Organization for Migration, the German Agency for International Cooperation, the Belgian Development Agency and the French Office for Migration and Integration. The meeting also focused on the national strategy for international professional mobility, which reflects the particular vision of economic inclusion, microenterprise, employment and skills in the field of international professional mobility management and international labor migration and in the field of vocational training and labor mobility programs, in addition to bilateral cooperation in the field of economic competitiveness, employment and vocational training. Moreover, Sekkouri held talks with the Libyan Minister of Labor and Reinsertion, Ali al-Abed, on the renewal of the memorandum of understanding signed between Morocco and Libya in the field of employment and its implementation through concrete measures, in addition to bilateral cooperation in the field of vocational training. These talks made it possible to underline the strong relations between Morocco and these countries, discuss ways to strengthen them and review issues related to the promotion of decent work, the exchange of experiences in the field of employment, experiences of social dialogue, as well as relations with social partners. Headed by Sekkouri, the Moroccan delegation participating in this event, which will last until May 29, also includes Morocco’s ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the League of Arab States, Ahmed Tazi, and representatives of government sectors, professional chambers and trade unions, as well as the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
