Council of Government Adopts Bill Establishing Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health
The Council of Government, convened on Wednesday, adopted the bill No. 23.23 establishing the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health. Presented by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, this bill is part of the reform of the health system, in accordance with the will of HM King Mohammed VI who had called for a radical overhaul of the national health system, which involves all institutions providing health services and treatment to citizens, said the government spokesman, Mustapha Baitas during a press briefing after the Council’s meeting. This bill aims to create the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health which will contribute, like similar institutions that have been serving citizens for almost thirty years, to the support of the national health system through the promotion of treatment, as well as the development of higher education, training, research and innovation, stressed the government spokesman. It will also contribute, he added, to the diversification of the health offer throughout the national territory, by offering quality health services and treatment in the various medical specialties, by facilitating access to treatment and hospitalization to citizens regardless of the type of basic compulsory medical insurance to which they are subject, as well as creating and developing the health infrastructure, including the Mohammed VI University Hospital of Rabat and the Mohammed VI University Hospital of Dakhla, with the aim of rehabilitating the national health system according to the best standards. This bill includes several provisions setting the terms of management and operation of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health, which will be subject to the rules of governance in force for similar institutions in terms of administrative and financial management, said Baitas.
