Hammouchi Discusses with Portuguese Officials Cooperation in Counter-Terrorism, Cross-Border Crime – Statement

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, made a working visit to Portugal, on Wednesday and Thursday, leading a large security delegation, during which he held talks with Portuguese officials on ways to promote cooperation in various security fields, notably the fight against terrorism and cross-border organized crime. During his visit, Hammouchi held talks with the Ambassador, Secretary General of the Information System of the Portuguese Republic (SIRP) Mira Graça Gomes, and the Director General of National Intelligence (SIS) Adélio Neiva da Cruz, as well as with the Director General of the Strategic Defense Information Service (SIED) Carlos López Pérez, according to a statement by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). The same source said that talks between the two parties focused on assessing the regional and international security situation and the various dangers and threats threatening both shores of the Mediterranean due to the rise in terrorist activity, as well as on ways of deepening bilateral security cooperation. This visit confirms both parties’ willingness to strengthen security cooperation and consolidate intelligence coordination in the fight against threats to the security of both countries, the statement added.
