Montevideo: House of Representatives Delegation Attends Second World Summit of the Committees of the Future
A delegation from the House of Representatives is taking part in the second World Summit of the Committees of the Future, being held in Montevideo, Uruguay, from September 25 to 27. The summit aims to strengthen the role of parliaments in making decisions based on future data and analysis, to encourage the development of capabilities in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and to promote and support dialogue and cooperation between parliaments around the world on issues of the future, said a statement by the House of Representatives. The event, attended by representatives of parliaments from around the world, as well as experts and representatives of international organizations and civil society, focuses on three major themes: artificial intelligence and democracy, the challenges facing global governance in a changing world, and sustainable development in the context of climate change and other global crises. The summit agenda includes a series of plenary sessions, seminars and workshops, added the same source, noting that this event is expected to culminate in a range of recommendations aimed at encouraging parliaments to develop their capacities in the fields of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, strengthening dialogue and cooperation between parliaments worldwide on issues of the future, and supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
