Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch held a meeting on Wednesday in Marrakech with the CEO of the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Scott Nathan, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In a press statement following these discussions, which took place in the presence of the Delegate Minister for Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation, Mohcine Jazouli, the head of the American development bank described this meeting as “extremely productive.” It focused on financing opportunities for the private sector in Morocco and Moroccan companies expanding their activities in Africa. Emphasizing DFC’s commitment to supporting economic growth in Morocco, whether in the fields of energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agri-food, or small businesses, Nathan stated that the institution is prepared to finance projects undertaken by Moroccan companies. Furthermore, the American official expressed his admiration for Morocco’s organization of the Annual Meetings of the WB and IMF, particularly following the tragic earthquake that affected several regions of the Kingdom on September 8. Highlighting the longstanding friendship between Morocco and the United States, he reiterated his country’s readiness to assist in reconstruction efforts. Akhannouch also had a discussion with the Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Boutaleb, on the sidelines of these Meetings, which began in the city of Marrakech on Monday with the participation of global economic and financial leaders to examine key issues related to financing policies, economic growth, and climate change.
