Lower House Speaker Meets with President of Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with Maghreb States in Bundestag
Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House), Rachid Talbi Alami, held, here Tuesday, talks with President of the Interparliamentary Friendship Group for relations with the Maghreb States in Bundestag, Carl-Julius Cronenberg. These talks were an opportunity to welcome the excellent Moroccan-German parliamentary relations and to discuss means to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two legislative institutions, “which would make it a fundamental pillar of relations between the two countries, particularly in economy, trade and investment,” the House of Representatives said in a press release. On this occasion, Talbi Alami hailed the close cooperation between the House of Representatives and the German Parliament, particularly in supporting the archiving and digitization of the House’s works, the same source added. He also highlighted the major projects initiated by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in the fields of renewable energies, the fight against the effects of drought and global warming and the production of green hydrogen as well as seawater desalination, food security, the construction of the Dakhla Atlantic port, in addition to the creation of a mega economic integration hub bringing together 23 African countries on the Atlantic coast. For his part, Carl-Julius Cronenberg stressed that his visit to Morocco, the first of this group to a foreign country, is of great importance, emphasizing the privileged relations between the two countries, particularly on a parliamentary level. He stressed that exchanges between the two parties continue at the highest level and cover all subjects of common interest. The German official praised the quality of relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic field, “which is evolving day by day”, expressing his hope of further strengthening it to cover other sectors, notably renewable energies and green hydrogen production. During this meeting, which was attended in particular by President of the Morocco-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group, Naima El Fathaoui, and German Ambassador in Rabat, Robert Dölger, Cronenberg underlined German companies’ readiness to increase their investments in Morocco, noting that one of the roles of the German Parliament is to support and strengthen this momentum.
