Sanchez’s Visit to Morocco Consolidates Increasingly Close Relationship between Rabat and Madrid – French Jurist –
The working visit to Morocco by the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, the first since his investiture, consolidates an increasingly close relationship between Rabat and Madrid, according to French lawyer and essayist Jérôme Besnard. Spain is clearly positioning itself as a “reliable” and “friendly” partner of the Kingdom, Besnard, who also teaches public law at Paris-Cité University, told MAP. Relations between Morocco and Spain, “which have also had a very positive impact on the European Union, owe a great deal to the diplomatic efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” the expert said. On the economic level, the jurist pointed out that Spain is Morocco’s leading partner, with a steadily growing volume of trade. “Spanish investment in Morocco is very significant,” he stated. The President of the Spanish Government on Wednesday paid a working visit to Morocco, marked by the audience granted to him by HM King Mohammed VI. Sanchez’s visit to Morocco follows on from the new stage in bilateral relations, initiated by the meeting between HM the King and the President of the Spanish Government in April 2022, and the adoption, on that occasion, of the Joint Declaration between the two countries.
