Agadir Hosts Final Meeting for African Lion 2024 Planning on Mars 11-15

The Southern Command Headquarters is hosting, from March 11 to 15, 2024, in Agadir, the final planning meeting for the “African Lion 2024” exercise, indicates a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) on Monday. Planners from about ten countries, including representatives of the Royal Armed Forces and the United States Armed Forces, will finalize the modalities for the conduct of the various activities planned in the program of this 20th edition, the same source specifies. The scheduled activities will include training covering several operational areas, a planning exercise for staff officers, combined arms maneuvers, civil-military operations, as well as NRBC (Nuclear, Radiological, Biological, and Chemical) decontamination exercises, adds the statement, noting that the main objective is to promote interoperability and strengthen intervention capabilities in a multinational context. Scheduled from May 20 to 31, 2024, in the regions of Agadir, Tantan, Tata, Kenitra, Benguerir, and Tifnit, the “African Lion 2024” exercise aims to strengthen military cooperation between Morocco and the United States and to encourage exchanges between the armed forces of the participating countries in order to promote peace, security, and stability in the region, it concludes.
