Aid Ordered by HM the King for People of Gaza and Al Quds, a Humanitarian Breakthrough by Land -Insight-

The aid ordered by HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Qods Committee, for the people of Gaza and the Holy City of Al Qods is a humanitarian breakthrough by land, which stands out for its unprecedented nature, warming the populations’ hearts and alleviating their suffering, at the start of the holy month of Ramadan. This large-scale humanitarian aid is being delivered by land to Gaza, making Morocco the first country to make this exceptional breakthrough since the outbreak of armed hostilities. Until now, aid destined for the people of Gaza either passed through Egypt, via the Rafah crossing, or was airdropped from aircraft. The latter option entails a number of risks, including the destruction of foodstuffs and falling cargo, which causes casualties among the population. Moroccan aid, which coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, primarily targets children, women and the elderly, which gives it extra soul in these times of communion and sharing. This major humanitarian operation once again reflects the ongoing concern of His Majesty the King, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, in support of the Palestinians and their cause and is part of a long Moroccan tradition of active solidarity. Imbued with this same spirit, His Majesty the King has covered, from His personal funds, a large part of the dispatched aid, particularly the aid delivered to babies and young children. This aid is made up of over 40 tons of foodstuffs, including basic foodstuffs, intended for the population of Gaza. For the Al Quds population, 2,000 food baskets will be distributed and 1,000 meals will be served daily for Palestinians in the City. The aid also provides for setting up an emergency coordination room in the Jerusalem Hospital. This is not Morocco’s first humanitarian operation in support of the Palestinians. This was the case in 2023, when Moroccan aircraft transported 25 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, delivered via the Rafah crossing from Egypt, and in 2018, when the Kingdom deployed a medical-surgical field hospital in Gaza. The success of this humanitarian operation is the result of the wise and far-sighted leadership of His Majesty the King, a leadership driven by a vision of peace and turned towards effective and concrete support for the Palestinians and their cause.
