Morocco’s Lower House Speaker Holds Talks with Bahraini Peer
Morocco’s Speaker of the House of Representatives Rachid Talbi El Alami held talks, here Tuesday, with Speaker of the Bahraini Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musalam, on a visit to the kingdom. During their talks, the two parties underscored the importance of supporting and reinforcing bilateral cooperation in light of the historical ties linking the two countries under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Sovereign of the sister Kingdom of Bahrain, said a press release from the House of Representatives. On this occasion, the same source added, bin Salman Al Musallam reiterated the firm position of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its support for Morocco and the autonomy plan for the Moroccan Sahara, expressing his country’s support for the Kingdom’s natioal unity and territorial integrity. He also referred to the decision of the Kingdom of Bahrain to open a general consulate in Laayoune, thus confirming Moroccan sovereignty and reflecting the strength of Morocco-Bahrain relations. The Bahraini official also commended the exceptional parliamentary relations, the levels of joint coordination, as well as Morocco’s honourable positions towards the Kingdom of Bahrain, expressing his willingness to further explore prospects for bilateral cooperation in areas of development, particularly in the economic and investment fields, trade and food security, in the interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples. For his part, Talbi El Alami welcomed Bahrain’s firm stance in support of Morocco and the autonomy initiative in the Moroccan Sahara, as part of Morocco’s national unity and territorial integrity. The Lower House Speaker highlighted the level of bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations, praising the results of cooperation achieved over the past decade, including exchanges of visits and expertise, coordination in various regional and international parliamentary fora and the reinforcement of effective and constant communication between the two legislative institutions, their members and their Secretariat-Generals. During this meeting, the two parties expressed their esteem for the efforts of HM King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain in supporting joint Arab action and achieving security and peace in the region, recalling in this respect the distinguished successe achieved under Bahrain’s presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit. They also underscored their support for the initiative of the Kingdom of Bahrain in calling for and hosting an international conference for peace in the region, as well as their support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people. The meeting was attended on the Bahraini side by Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Morocco Khalid bin Salman Al Musalam, Rep. Deputy Head of Delegation Mohsen Ali Al Asbool, Representatives Mohammed Musa Al-Balooshi, Hanan Mohamed Ali, Mahmoud Merza Fardan, Ali Majed Alnoaimi, Ali Saqer Al Doseri, and Councillor Rashid Muhammad Bunajma, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives. On the Moroccan side, the meeting was attended by Rep. Chairman of the Morocco-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group Nabil Dakhch, and Secretary General of the House of Representatives Najib El Khadi.
