Sharjah International Book Fair: Sharjah Ruler Receives Morocco’s Culture Minister
HH Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, received on Sunday the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, who is leading the Moroccan delegation taking part in the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). On this occasion, the two parties recalled the strong and enduring nature of the relations uniting Morocco and UAE under the wise leadership of both countries: His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE. Culture minister welcomed the excellent organization of the SIBF by the emirate of Sharjah, a major cultural event due to its great prestige, which strengthens its advanced international status with every new edition. Bensaid emphasized that all arrangement have been made to ensure Morocco’s participation, the year’s guest of honor, would be an exceptional contribution, one that aims to leave a positive mark and highlights the value of books as bearer of Moroccan culture. This event is one of the world’s largest book fairs held at the Sharjah Expo Centre every year. The eleven day fair has over 400 literary events, including daily writing workshops, poetry readings and book signing. Books at the fair cover diverse genres in over 210 languages, while the panels have a star-studded lineup of renowned literary figures and authors.
