Defense of Victims of Man Named Brahim Ghali Lodges Urgent Complaint for His Arrest
Lawyers of victims of criminal acts committed by the man named Brahim Ghali filed, on Thursday, a complaint with the Spanish courts for the activation of the European arrest warrant issued against the latter.
The urgent complaint was lodged by the lawyers of the Sahrawi Association To Defend Human Rights “ASADEDH”, said on Friday sources from the law firm.
The leader of the separatists was admitted last week to a hospital in northern Spain under a false identity and with forged papers to escape the Spanish justice.
The Spanish government confirmed, on Thursday evening, that the leader of the Polisario separatists is in Spain “to receive medical care”.
He was transferred to Spain “for strictly humanitarian reasons in order to receive medical assistance,” Spanish diplomatic sources told “Europapress” news agency and “La Vanguardia” newspaper.
For its part, the newspaper La Rioja said that the man named Brahim Ghali was admitted to the intensive care unit of the San Pedro hospital in Logrono last Sunday, adding that he was transferred by ambulance from Zaragoza and was admitted under the name of Mohamed Benbatouch, of Algerian nationality.
The defense of the victims is calling for the initiation of public action and increased cooperation from the Spanish police to interrogate Brahim Ghali at the hospital and then incarcerate him in accordance with the arrest warrant issued against him.
