Elections of September 8: Submission of Candidatures from August 16 to 25 – Statement –
The date for submitting candidatures for the general elections of September 08 has been set from August 16 to 25, 2021, a statement from the Interior Minister said on Friday. “As part of the general elections scheduled for Wednesday, September 8, 2021 to elect members of the House of Representatives, members of municipal and district councils and members of regional councils, the Interior Minister reminds voters that the period for submitting candidatures for these elections will begin on Monday August 16, 2021 and will continue until Wednesday August 25, 2021 at noon,” the statement said. For the election of the members of the House of Representatives, the candidatures must be submitted in the form of candidate lists by the representative of each list, at the headquarters of the prefecture, province or district prefecture concerned, for the local electoral constituencies, and at the headquarters of the wilaya of the region for the regional electoral constituencies, according to the same source. Regarding the election of members of the municipal and district councils, the candidatures will be submitted, depending on the case, in the form of candidate lists or individual declarations of candidacy by the representative of each list or each candidate, at the headquarters of the local administrative authority in charge of the municipality or district. As for the candidatures relating to the election of the members of the Regional Councils, they must be submitted in the form of lists of candidatures by the representative of each list at the headquarters of the prefecture, the province or the prefecture of districts falling under the competence of the region concerned. On this occasion, the Interior Minister informed those wishing to stand for these elections that they can withdraw the forms of individual candidacy declarations or the candidate lists, as the case may be, from the local administrative authorities in charge of the constituencies on behalf of which they intend to stand, it said. He also stressed that the representatives of the candidate lists or the candidates must ensure that the declarations of candidacy meet the conditions and formalities provided for by the legal provisions in force, in order to avoid their rejection. The Interior Minister recalled that the electoral campaign for these elections will begin on Thursday, August 26, 2021 and will end on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at midnight, it concluded.
