Morocco, Ethiopia Agree to Hold Joint Commission to Examine Projects Signed between Two Countries

Morocco and Ethiopia have agreed to hold the Joint Commission to review the important projects signed between the two countries during the Royal Visit to Addis Ababa in 2016. A new roadmap has been established between Morocco and Ethiopia since the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to this East African country in 2016, said Saturday in Addis Ababa the minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita. Some investments have been made while others are pending, the minister noted, adding that he had held discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister and Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, on the convening of the joint Moroccan-Ethiopian Commission to examine all the projects signed during this Royal Visit. Several major projects and investments have been made, including the construction of a fertilizer plant in Ethiopia, Bourita said at a press conference held in the Ethiopian capital on the sidelines of the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union. The purpose of this joint commission is to examine the projects that have been implemented and the reasons why other projects have not been carried out, he explained. Since HM the King’s visit to Ethiopia, the two countries have a clear framework for cooperation, Bourita added, stressing the need to involve all actors in this action, especially private sector stakeholders, as well as other national institutions. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, represents HM King Mohammed VI at the 35th Ordinary Session of the AU Summit, which kicked off Saturday in the Ethiopian capital.
