Bolivia Supports ‘Fair, Mutually Acceptable’ Political Solution to Moroccan Sahara Issue
Bolivia has spoken out in New York in favor of a “fair, sustainable and mutually acceptable” political solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara. Speaking before the members of the UNGA’s 4th Committee, Bolivian Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Marcelo Zambrana-Torrelio stressed that his country hopes that with the participation of “all parties concerned, a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution can be found.” He welcomed the good offices of the UN Secretary General and his Personal Envoy for the Moroccan Sahara, Staffan de Mistura to find a peaceful solution to this regional dispute. The Bolivian diplomat also called on the parties to respect the ceasefire and resume, “in good faith” and in a spirit of compromise the political process under the auspices of the UN Secretary General.
