Morocco’s FM Receives Mayor of Peruvian Municipality ‘Pueblo libre’

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita received, Tuesday in Rabat, the mayor of the Peruvian municipality “Pueblo libre”, Mónica Tello López. This meeting is part of Tello Lopez’s working visit in Morocco onMay 12-20 in order to seal a twinning agreement between the municipality of Pueblo Libre and Laayoune. In a statement to the press, the mayor of Pueblo Libre affirmed her support for the efforts of the Peruvian Congress initiative, which created a Group of support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, stressing that her visit to Morocco aims to strengthen bilateral relations. She also noted having discussed with Bourita ways to strengthen the ties of friendship between Morocco and the Republic of Peru, including the municipality of Pueblo Libre, noting in this sense that the Peruvian Congress has set the date of November 30, to celebrate the visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Peru in 2004. “These celebrations will be an opportunity to make known the Moroccan culture to the inhabitants of Pueblo Libre, through artistic and culinary events as well as creations highlighting the Moroccan handicrafts,” added Tello Lopez. The mayor of the municipality of Pueblo Libre and the accompanying delegation had held, Monday in Rabat, a meeting with the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Aawatif Hayar, who highlighted the significant progress made by Morocco in promoting women’s rights, as well as the pioneering role they now play in the management of local and political affairs.
