Moroccan Sahara: Israel’s Recognition in Line with Those of Major Countries, Organizations Amazed by HM the King’s Vision – Senegalese Expert

Israel’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara “is in line with those made by major nations and organizations, amazed by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” stressed Dr. Abdoul Latif Aidara, Director General of the African Center for Strategic Intelligence (CISPAIX). “First of all, it must be said that this decision is in line with those of major nations and organizations that are amazed by the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, who has proposed an autonomy plan for the Sahara that should inspire the whole of Africa,” the Senegalese expert said in a statement to MAP. The international security expert noted that this announcement comes in addition to those made by the United States of America and more than 15 European countries, which are “part of the royal dynamic that has allowed the opening of 28 consulates of African, Arab and Latin American countries in Dakhla and Laâyoune, in the Moroccan Sahara”. For the Senegalese expert, “the Moroccan nature of the Sahara is beyond doubt, both geographically and historically,” adding that recognizing this reality “is simply a return to legitimate reality after decades of illusions and misjudgments. Professor Abdoul Latif Aidara noted that the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as Commander of the Faithful, “intrinsically integrates the defense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the Holy Places.” “No state in the world can deny the reality of Israel, its strong military cooperation, its international political relations and its investment capacity, which can also benefit Morocco,” stressed the Senegalese expert. “Objectively speaking, we must have relations and dialogue with Israel on the Palestinian problem, which cannot be resolved by force or indifference,” he stressed. According to the director of the Dakar-based CISPAIX Center, “His Majesty the King’s vision is the best: to deal with the great and the good of this world, while preserving its obligations based on history and tradition.” The Senegalese expert also welcomed the idea of opening an Israeli consulate in the city of Dakhla, “which is already a major world urban center and is sure to become a major hub for international business.”  Earlier in the day, a statement from the Royal Office announced that His Majesty King Mohammed VI had received a letter from the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in which the latter brought to His Majesty’s very high attention the State of Israel’s decision “to recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over the territory of Western Sahara.” In this regard, the Israeli Prime Minister stated that his country’s position “will be reflected in all relevant acts and documents of the Israeli Government.”
