African Parliamentarians Commend Morocco’s Major Role in Promoting South-South Cooperation
African parliamentarians commended Morocco’s leading role in promoting and strengthening South-South cooperation, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Speaking at the opening of the Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation, these parliamentarians, including Senate Speakers, highlighted the Sovereign’s commitment and unconditional support for the integration and development of both the continent and the countries of the South. They stressed the importance of South-South cooperation in meeting the challenges facing these countries, including poverty, food insecurity, climate change and armed conflict. The parliamentarians called for innovative solutions to these challenges, advocating closer economic and regional integration and strategic partnerships between the countries of the South, adding that collaboration between the nations of the South is a necessity if the aspirations of its peoples are to be realized. They also stressed the importance of this two-day conference, held under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, which aims to foster dialogue and the exchange of experience and expertise between the three regional groupings, namely Africa, the Arab world and Latin America. The two-day conference focuses on the “Role of National Parliaments and Regional and Continental Parliamentary Unions in Africa, the Arab World, and Latin America in Enhancing Strategic Partnerships and Achieving Joint Integration and Development”.
